Announcing Important Update to StreetWise® Responder for Android Users

CHARLOTTE, NC - StreetWise® is consistently watching, questioning, and learning how best to respond to clients’ needs for outstanding pre-incident planning, firehouse safety, and reduced response time. In answer to this, we are releasing a new update to StreetWise® Responder for Android users.

 The latest StreetWise® Responder, version 3.1.17, pays particular attention to your maps functionality, integrating your Responder app with the latest Google Maps SDK package (version 18.0.0).

This latest update that utilizes Google Maps SDK will specifically enhance your rendering speed and overall quality of your maps. These maps also boast other advantages using a new renderer, such as:

  • Reduced network load, processing demand, and memory consumption.
  • Improved gesture handling for better animations, plus smoother panning and zooming.
  • More fluid transitions and clearly positioned map labels.
  • A more stable and improved user experience for future map innovations on Android.

This update requires Android users to be using Android OS 4.4 or later.

This means that if you have an older Android OS than 4.4, this update will not be possible. Your Responder app will continue to work, it will simply not be integrated with Google Maps SDK.

The latest version of StreetWise® Responder will be available to download via Google Play beginning November 11, 2021.
